At GameGround, we offer some of the most popular skill play games on Facebook like Galactic Gems, Bomboozle 2, and Power Solitaire. Today we are going to look at the Top 5 (non GameGround) titles on Facebook and discuss a little about each of them.

1. Cityville: The game allows players to become the mayor of a virtual city and to oversee its development into a large metropolis. Players can perform tasks, which include farming, construction, and rent collection in their city using energy points. The amount of energy available increases as the user gains in experience levels. Players can also visit their neighbors’ cities and perform jobs to earn reputation points, which provide free goods bonuses. Each reputation level-up also increases the amount of energy, XP and coins bonuses available on a daily basis.

2. Zynga Poker: It’s no surprise that Zynga Poker made it on the list, seeing as it’s the largest poker site in the world. The game allows players to simulate playing poker in a social gaming environment. Users enter a casino lobby and can play at any table or join friends for a game. Players choose from casual Texas hold ‘em tables, tournament play, or VIP tables. A leader board shows players how they compare in chip ranking to other players and allows players to send or receive gifts.

3. Castleville: Zynga’s most recent game, released in November 2011. It’s remarkable seeing Castleville in the top 5 only a few months after launch. Set in a medieval world, the game allows players to build their land up with castle elements, and craft armor, art and trade items. The objective is to explore the unknown land around the starting territory and expand the player’s empire into it. The character’s avatar can be customized, and the world features peasants, pirates, princesses and Vikings. To encourage players to be social within the game, the reputation system used in other Zynga games was overhauled.

4. Farmville: Even after all these years, Farmville is still sitting comfortably in the top 5. Upon beginning a farm, the player first creates a customizable avatar which may be changed at any point. The player begins with an empty farm and a fixed starting amount of “farm coins”, the primary currency in the game. Players also earn XP for performing certain actions in the game such as plowing land or buying items. At certain XP benchmarks, the player’s level rises. As the player obtains more items and progresses through levels, crops and animals become available to them via the “market” where items can be purchased using either farm coins or “farm cash”. Farm cash is earned by leveling up or completing offers, or purchased for real money.

5. The Sims Social: Finally a non-Zynga game! Everybody loves The Sims right? The player has a character called a Sim, which can be customized. Sims can become friends, loved ups, old enemies, frenemies, inseparable, best friends forever (BFF), enemies and arch-enemies. There are 9 different personalities, which may affect a Sim’s lifestyle. The life styles are geek, creative, villain, socialite, rocker, introvert, tycoon, athlete, and romantic. Sims can also develop skills. There are currently four skills: art, cooking, music, and writing. They can also purchase traits. The traits available currently are slob, steel bladder, neat, super mechanic, insane, ogre, ninja, great kisser, and night owl.
